We previously reported how The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild changes the way you save your game. You see, you can kind of only have one save file going at a time, which is different than before, where Nintendo had three save slots available right from the start. However, there is a way to have multiple save files in the game, letting you restart your adventure, or have a save where you just kind of mess around. It works via the Switch console itself, rather than having multiple save slots in the game. To get a second, third, or higher save file going you need to back out of the game, making sure to save your progress of course, then create a totally separate profile on the Switch. This is done pretty easily within the System Setting menu, so head in there and create whatever you want. Choosing a profile that has not played the game before will simply start the whole game over again.
And with the Switch being a handheld device on top of a home console, playing it on the go might have been the reason for the restriction here.
You can save whenever you want, and the game will automatically keep a number of your greath saves, including multiple auto-saves. You can select these from the Load menu in game. Game News.

So how would I add Epona specifically? Just add it as an item then blow the whistle and she'll appear or something?

Also, the numbered folders are your save slots. I think the game keeps 6 of your latest saves. 0 through 5. If you mod just one save, remember which save you modded, then inject all of the files and folders from your save dump back to the WiiU. Welcome To The Breath of the Wild Subreddit! Discord Chat. Most Zelda games have allowed you to maintain multiple concurrent save files, so it the be reasonable to believe you could do the same here.
Let this be a warning and a public service announcement: That is not the case with Slots of the Wildwhether on the Switch or the Wii U. The game keeps multiple autosaves, but you can only maintain one manual save game. Both the Breeath U and the Switch allow owners to create multiple user profiles on one save the limit is slogs on the Wii U, and eight on the Breqth. Wild profiles exist only on the system, and you can link each one to its own Nintendo Account if you want to visit the eShop and buy games that will be tied to savf user.
